This is the power of the local church. Our last is to center ourselves on, revel in, and rejoice in the gospel story. It is not enough to just know facts about the Bible. Our mission is to love, enjoy, and delight in Jesus and His gospel. We are to tell this gospel story to ourselves, to each other, and to the community around us. Everything we do as a church proceeds from, is motivated by, and is in cause of this gospel story. Thus we do not exist as a church to make a name for ourselves. We exist for the glory and fame of Jesus Christ as we seek to make much of Him and His gospel. This is where the training of leaders, discipleship of families and individuals, as well as our Worship Gathering, Bible Institute, and Sunday School classes take shape in our church.
This is the nature of the local church. We are called to be a local church, a covenant community that is led, taught, and shepherded by Godly pastors and led, guided, and motivated to serve by Godly deacons. We are thus called to BE the church, not to DO church. this means we have to be relational and connected with each other. Growth in the body of Christ does not happen individually, but rather corporately. This is where Community Groups and our Men's and Women's Ministries play an integral part in our church.
This is the focus of the local church. We are focused on the west side of Indianapolis, including Brownsburg and the surrounding towns. This is Jesus' call to us to be the salt of our city, a preservative. We are to be a just and merciful people who strive to better the places we live and seek the Kingdom of God for Brownsburg and Indianapolis. This is where our ministry of "We Heart Brownsburg" including the Storehouse, Northwest Community Park, as well as Bethesda Christian School serves to integrate this Biblical call.
This is the calling of the local church. We are to be a people for His own possession who are proclaiming His excellencies to our community and around the world. This is Jesus' call to us to be the light of our city, a beacon of hope and truth. This means we are not in competition with another local church, but rather are working to see the lost come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. This is both local and global. This is where our strategy to train, support, and send out church planters and missionaries, as well as have our congregation participate in Send Me Journeys and take on a missionary posture locally takes shape.
