EXODUS: THE GOD WHO REVEALS HIMSELF
Exodus tells the story of how God reveals Himself to His people and the nations. He reveals through affliction, judgment, redemption, provision, guidance, giving the law, and more. The story immerses us not only in who God is, but also the glorious reality that there is no one like Him, no one else who is worthy of praise.

PASTOR JUSTIN’S FAVORITE SERMON
About ten years ago, I came across this sermon that helped me to see the book of Exodus from a gospel-centered perspective. On more than one occasion I’ve found myself in tears as I mow the grass and listen. My prayer is that God will similarly stir your affections for Christ through the story of the Exodus.

BOOKS
If you only read one book on Exodus.
An entire book about the 10 Commandments feels like a lot of pages on rules. Aren’t we supposed to be about the Gospel? Those were my initial thoughts – maybe there are yours too. But I loved this book and I think you will too. It’s witty and funny, but not at the expense of real depth. Parents, this would be a great book to read aloud with your kids as part of your plan for family discipleship.
The Ten Commandments: What They Mean, Why They Matter, and Why We Should Obey Them by Kevin DeYoung
If you want to see how Exodus themes span the whole Bible.
This isn’t an academic book, but you’ll still need your thinking cap. Even so, it vividly portrays the redemptive theme of Exodus across the entire 66 books of Scripture. Those who love to see Gospel connections across the whole Bible will really enjoy this one.
Exodus Old and New: A Biblical Theology of Redemption by L. Michael Morales
If you want a commentary on Exodus.
Motyer writes with exegetical depth, but it’s not so technical that lay readers can’t benefit. If you want to do a deep dive on the book of Exodus, or even just a section of Exodus, you’ll be glad you have this book in your library.

Sermon Series
The Exodus series will be one of the more unique series in recent memory for a variety of factors. Once we start, we do not plan to take any breaks until it’s completed. We’ll spend eleven weeks in chapter 20 for a deep dive on the Ten Commandments. Towards the end, we’ll speed up and cover chapters 35-40 in a single sermon. While Pastor Justin will preach the majority of the sermons, at least five pastors from Parkside will deliver sermons in this series.
