Elements of Worship

At Parkside, we have intentionally sought to include the elements of worship that are positively prescribed by God to observe as we worship Him. We hope that by pointing your eyes to Jesus, you will worship him "in spirit and truth" (Jn. 4:24).

  • We believe that music is an important part of the DNA of the church. We seek to follow Paul's instructions in Colossians 3:16 to "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly...singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God." With this prescription in mind, we prioritize singing congregational songs that are theologically rich.

  • Talking to God is one of the sweet blessings of a Christian. Each week, one of Parkside's pastors leads in an extended prayer of intercession that is saturated with the language of Scripture.

  • We preach through books of the Bible. Because our goal is to teach what God says, we make the main point of the Scripture text the main point of the sermon. Ultimately, we aim to exalt Jesus, call people to repent of their sins, and grow in their love for Jesus.

  • At the beginning of the service (after the Announcements) there is quietness. The book of Psalms uses moments of reflection seen in the inscription Selah (see Psalm 3 for multiple uses of Selah). Selah tells the worshiper "pause and reflect." This time at the beginning of our service allows you to silence the noise and chaos within your own heart, bring your troubles to God, and hear him invite you to worship him in spirit and in truth.

After the sermon there is another Selah moment, a quiet moment for you to pause, reflect, and pray. This is your opportunity to simply share your heart with God and let his preached Word transform you.

  • Each Sunday, we take communion to celebrate Jesus giving His life so that we can have life. If you have trusted in Jesus as your Savior, please take the bread and juice located in the pew when a pastor comes up to lead the congregation in observing communion.

  • God is so generous to us. We seek to worship Him by giving generously to help others and further the mission of Parkside Bible Church. Offering boxes are located on the back wall and by the receptionist desk. Online giving is also available here:
